Serving communities across the State of San Andreas, the OSFM provides leadership in reducing fire risk, enforcing fire and life safety codes, and determining the origin and cause of fires. Our Mission The mission of the State Fire Marshal is to protect life and property through the development and application of fire prevention, engineering, education, and enforcement. What We Do The Office of the State Fire Marshal carries out a wide range of responsibilities to support fire and life safety across the state. These responsibilities include: Fire and Life Safety Inspections Fire Code Enforcement & Compliance Fire & Explosion Origin and Cause Investigations Arson & Explosives Investigations Public Fire Prevention & Safety Education Permitting for Hazardous Operations & Special Events Plan Review and Regulatory Oversight Personnel assigned to the OSFM work to identify hazards before incidents occur, enforce applicable codes and standards, investigate fires when they do occur, and provide guidance and education to the public and partner agencies. Leadership The Office of the State Fire Marshal is led by experienced personnel responsible for statewide oversight, operational direction, and enforcement of fire and life safety regulations. Jason Kreuz State Fire Marshal Serves as the executive authority of the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Responsible for statewide leadership, policy development, and coordination with state, local, and federal partners. Vacant Assistant State Fire Marshal (Operations) Oversees daily operations of all bureaus, ensuring effective enforcement, inspections, and investigative functions across the state. Vacant Division Chief (Investigations) Responsible for the management and oversight of all fire, arson, and explosive-related investigations conducted by the Office. Vacant Division Chief (Public Education & Risk Reduction) Leads the Fire Prevention Bureau, including inspections, code enforcement, plan review, and community risk reduction initiatives. Vacant Division Chief (Training & Standards) Responsible for training programs, certification standards, and professional development of all OSFM personnel. Bureau Structure Fire Prevention Bureau Responsible for inspections, permitting, and the enforcement of fire and life safety regulations across commercial, industrial, and public occupancies. This division works directly with businesses and the public to ensure compliance and reduce fire hazards. Arson & Bomb Investigations Bureau Sworn peace officers assigned to investigate fires, explosions, and related criminal activity, including arson and use of explosives. Public Education & Risk Reduction Provides outreach, education, and safety initiatives designed to reduce preventable fires and increase public awareness of fire hazards and safety practices. Training & Professional Standards Supports standards, policy development, and ongoing training for personnel assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Authority & Jurisdiction Pursuant to the San Andreas Penal Code, the State Fire Marshal and authorized representatives of the Office of the State Fire Marshal are recognized as peace officers within the State of San Andreas. This authority permits enforcement of applicable laws, investigation of public offenses, and coordination with allied agencies in the interest of public safety.
