Chapter 1: The meeting that wasn’t important enough to record

 Memory · [ LATE 2024]

The meeting took place in a rented office above a logistics company in Kobe.

Nothing about the location stood out. That was intentional, no markings outside, no security presence that looked official, no one used names that mattered.

I was told to come in alone. So I did. Inside there were four man. One of them I recognized from older transport coordination work, the others where technically "consultants" on paper.

Nobody sat at the head of the table, that was the first sign that something was already decided.

A folder was placed in front of me, hot handed, placed.

"You've been removed from domestic routing supervision", one of them said. I didn't react immediately. The wording mattered.

Not fired, not punished, not suspended, removed. A logistical phrase for exclusion without declaration.

I opened the folder:

- internal incidents reports -

- transport disruptions across Kobe logistics channels -

   - flagged warehouse activity -

- insurance claims tied to seized assets -

Nothing directly accused me of wrongdoing, then I flipped a page.

"Foreign operational reassignment recommended"

I looked up: "Who requested this?"

No one answered directly, one of the man adjusted his watch, another checked his phone.

But silence was the answer.

Chapter 2:Departure

About three days later, I was removed from all records that mattered internally. Routing permissions revoked, shared accounts closed, contact logs wiped from active coordination channels.

No announcement followed. No explanation. In organizations like this, explanations create liabilities. I understood what that meant without being told. I didn't ask. Asking would have created a record of uncertainty, and that is something organizations like this avoid documenting.

A week has passed, "knock, knock" a courier delivered a sealed envelope to my apartment, no sender listed. Inside was not a promotion or directive in the traditional sense, it was paperwork. A dormant import/export entity. A lease agreement for a small office in Los Santos. There was also a printed itinerary, flight already booked, seat already assigned. I read it once, then again, on the last page, a handwritten note:

"You're better used outside of this environment"

CONCLUSION

Chapter 3:Arrival

No one met me at the airport, There was no introduction to the city, no handover, no briefing beyond what was already in the documents I carried. The office listed in the lease existed, but it was not market in any meaningful way. A small unit in a industrial block, share building access, no signage that suggested importance.

Inside everything was already functional in the most minimal sense:

- a registered company name tied to import coordination -

- a working business address for correspondence -

- basic communication lines routed trough third party intermediaries, and a list of contacts that were not explained, only provided -

It became clear over time that the city was not being used to create something new, it was being used to extend something that already existed elsewhere, but in a controlled way. Not replicated, not expanded openly, just distributed. Small points of coordination placed in a different jurisdiction, where they would not be recognized as connected unless someone already knew what they were looking at.
