Global Server Rules

These rules apply to every player on Roleplay Project. Read them in full before you join. Ignorance is not a defence, by connecting to the server you agree to abide by every section below.

roleplayproject.net Signed, the Project Team
SECTION 01 Player Eligibility
G1.1Minimum Player Age, 18 Years PERM BAN
All players must be at least 18 years of age to play on this server. This is strict and non-negotiable. If you are found to be under 18 through any means (voice chat, admission, evidence), you will be permanently banned immediately. Lying about your age will still result in a permanent ban if caught later.
G1.2Minimum Character Age, 18 Years PERM BAN
Every character must be 18 years old or older. You cannot roleplay as a minor under any circumstances, including backstory, flashbacks, or references.
SECTION 02 Account Conduct
G2.1Cheating, Hacking & Third-Party Mods PERM BAN
Using any software, tool, or modification that gives you an unfair advantage is permanently banned. This includes mod menus, aimbots, speed hacks, teleport scripts, wallhacks, and texture packs that remove walls. No appeal on first offence.
G2.2One Account Per Player PERM BAN
Only one account per player. Creating alt accounts for any reason, bypassing bans, transferring money, gaining advantages, or starting fresh, is not allowed. Both accounts will be banned.
G2.3Realistic Character Names ADMIN JAIL
Character names must be realistic. No celebrity names, fictional characters, memes, or offensive names.
Good: Marcus Williams, Sarah Chen, Diego Ramirez
Bad: John Wick, Deez Nuts, Walter White, XxSniperxX
G2.4Bug Exploitation & Glitch Abuse PERM BAN
If you find a bug, report it to staff. Do not abuse it for gain. Using bugs to duplicate money, items, or vehicles is bannable. “I didn’t know it was a bug” is not an excuse.
G2.5Respect & Harassment Policy BAN
Treat other players with respect. OOC harassment, racism, sexism, homophobia, doxxing, or real-life threats are strictly prohibited. Your character can be rude in-character, but you cannot target other players. This applies to Discord, voice chat, /b chat, and all associated platforms.
G2.6No Advertising BAN
Do not advertise other GTA servers, communities, or services. This includes server names, IPs, Discord links, or recruiting for another server.
G2.7Drama Rule ADMIN JAIL
Any person who is found to be creating drama between our community and any other community, feeding information into them, feeding intelligence into another community, scopes of our support, information we may deem “sensitive” will be banned from our community indefinitely.

This rule extends to anyone who actively comes into our community bringing drama from another community. Example: you have an outstanding forum report on another server and continue that drama here. Punishment is typically a 60-minute admin jail; in extreme circumstances this extends to a 7-day ban, maximum. Repeat offenders can be permanently banned.
SECTION 03 Roleplay Standards
R3.1Remain In Character At All Times WARNING
When in the game world, you are your character. Use /b or (( brackets )) for OOC chat. Don’t talk about game mechanics, real life, or other players while in-character.
Bad: “Lol this game is so buggy” in normal chat
Good: /b Hey, I need to go AFK for 2 minutes
R3.2Realistic Roleplay Behaviour ADMIN JAIL
Your character must behave like a real person. No superhuman feats, no ignoring common sense, no acting purely to “win.”
Bad: Running into a police station alone with a gun demanding prisoner release
Good: Calling for backup before confronting police
R3.3Roleplay Injuries & Conditions ADMIN JAIL
If your character is injured, sick, or has a condition, roleplay it. Getting shot means pain. Breaking a leg means no sprinting. Being drunk means stumbling. The health system applies conditions, you must roleplay them.
R3.4Powergaming Prohibited 1–3 DAY BAN
Powergaming means forcing an action on another player without giving them a chance to respond. Use /me to describe what you attempt and /do to ask about outcomes.
Bad: /me grabs John and throws him to the ground, knocking him unconscious
Good: /me attempts to grab John by the collar and pull him down
R3.5New Life Rule (NLR) BAN
If your character dies (PK), they forget everything leading to their death. You cannot remember who killed you, return to the area, or seek revenge. A Character Kill (CK) is permanent, the character can never be played again.
SECTION 04 Metagaming, Zero Tolerance
✖ Danger · Metagaming is among the most severely punished offences
Metagaming means using information your character does not and could not know. If you didn’t learn it through in-game roleplay, your character doesn’t know it.
R4.1Use of OOC Information 1–3 DAY BAN
This includes:
  • Reading nametags to identify someone you haven’t met
  • Using Discord or voice chat to share IC locations / plans
  • Watching a streamer and using their position
  • Knowing someone’s name without being told in-game
  • Using info from a different character on your alt
R4.2Punishment Escalation PERM BAN
  • 1st offence: Minimum 3-day ban. No exceptions.
  • 2nd offence: 14-day ban.
  • 3rd offence: Permanent ban. No appeal.
  • Stream sniping: Permanent ban on first offence.
SECTION 05 Combat Rules
C5.1Random Deathmatch (RDM) 1–3 DAY BAN
You must have a valid IC reason to attack or kill someone. No random violence.
Bad: Shooting someone because you were bored, punching random people for fun
Good: A heated IC argument that escalated, defending yourself from a threat
C5.2Vehicle Deathmatch (VDM) 1–3 DAY BAN
Do not use your vehicle as a weapon. Intentionally running people over is VDM. Your car is for driving, not killing.
C5.3Roleplay Before Combat ADMIN JAIL
Before any violent encounter, there must be roleplay, a verbal confrontation, a demand, a threat. You cannot silently draw and shoot.
Correct escalation: Verbal argument → /me draws weapon → Give them a chance to comply → Escalate only if they don’t
C5.4Fear Roleplay (FearRP) ADMIN JAIL
Value your character’s life. If someone has a gun aimed at you at close range and you’re unarmed, you comply. A real person wouldn’t quickdraw against a shotgun in their face.
C5.5Combat Logging BAN
Disconnecting during active roleplay to avoid consequences is combat logging. If you genuinely crash, reconnect immediately and contact staff to continue the scenario.
SECTION 06 Crime & Robberies
C6.1Robbery Requirements ADMIN JAIL
Robberies require at least 2 people. Roleplay it properly, demands, time to comply. Maximum $500 cash per robbery. You can also take visible held items. Don’t strip someone of everything.
C6.2Scamming Limits WARNING
IC scamming is allowed up to $10,000 in value. Anything above requires admin approval. OOC scamming is never allowed and results in a ban.
C6.3Revenge Killing BAN
If you were PK’d, your character has no memory of the event. Going after the person who killed you using any information is metagaming + RDM. Both are bannable.
SECTION 07 Vehicle Rules
V7.1Realistic Driving WARNING
Drive like your car cost you money. No 200mph city cruising, no ramp jumping, no battering rams. Use common sense.
Bad: 150mph down Vinewood Boulevard in a sedan for no reason
Good: Driving within reason for the situation
V7.2Vehicle Capability Limits WARNING
Vehicles can only do what they realistically could. SUVs / trucks go off-road. Sports cars stay on roads. Motorcycles fit through alleys but crash easily. Don’t drive a supercar through a river.
V7.3No Despawning During Active RP ADMIN JAIL
Do not store your vehicle through game mechanics during active roleplay. If police are chasing you, you cannot park in a garage to despawn it. That’s vehicle combat logging.
V7.4Emergency Vehicles Restricted ADMIN JAIL
Police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks are for on-duty faction members only. Do not steal emergency vehicles unless it’s part of legitimate criminal RP with proper buildup.
SECTION 08 Faction Rules
F8.1Chain of Command WARNING
Official factions have ranks and a chain of command. Follow orders from superiors and roleplay your rank appropriately. A new recruit doesn’t act like the chief of police.
F8.2No Cop Baiting ADMIN JAIL
Intentionally provoking law enforcement to start a chase or shootout is trolling, not roleplay. No burnouts at the station, no honking at cops and speeding off, no committing crimes solely for police response.
F8.3Criminal Orgs Must Have Story WARNING
Gangs must develop naturally through RP. You can’t create a gang on day one and start shooting. Build relationships, establish territory through RP. Quality over quantity.
F8.4Corruption RP Requires Admin Approval BAN
Want to play a dirty cop or corrupt paramedic? You must get admin approval first. No going rogue within a legal faction without permission.
F8.5Faction Leadership Quality WARNING
Faction leaders are responsible for their members’ RP quality. Factions consistently producing poor roleplay may have leadership replaced by server management.
SECTION 09 Wealth & Asset Roleplay
A9.1Roleplay Your Wealth Tier ADMIN JAIL
Your character’s lifestyle, clothing, vehicles, and behaviour must match their financial situation. A “poor” character shouldn’t wear designer clothes and drive a Lamborghini. Build wealth through roleplay, get a job, run a business, work your way up.
A9.2No Cross-Character Asset Transfer BAN
You cannot transfer money, vehicles, items, or properties between your own characters. Each character’s wealth is independent. Using a friend as a middleman is the same violation.
A9.3Realistic Asset Acquisition ADMIN JAIL
Everything your character owns must make sense with their story. If an admin asks how your gas station attendant owns three sports cars and you can’t explain it through RP, assets may be removed.
A9.4Property & Business Roleplay WARNING
If you own a property or business, use it and roleplay with it. Properties and businesses that go unused for extended periods may be reclaimed by administration.
A9.5No Unrealistic Money Farming BAN
Grinding jobs mechanically without roleplay (“robot farming”) is not allowed. You can work jobs, but you should be roleplaying while doing it. Running deliveries in silence with zero interaction for hours isn’t roleplay.
SECTION 10 Mature & Erotic Content
!
Staff Notice
Section 10 governs mature content, read carefully
This section sets hard limits on erotic roleplay (ERP) and adjacent content. The rules below are not guidelines; they are non-negotiable boundaries enforced by Project Staff. If anything here is unclear, stop and ask a staff member before participating, not after.
Issued by Project Staff
E10.1Age Requirements for ERP, 18+ Only PERM BAN
All players involved in any erotic roleplay must be 18+ in real life, and all characters must be 18+. This extends to appearance and assets: any character who looks underage, and any character model or skin depicting a minor, is prohibited in sexual content regardless of a claimed age. “They’re 18 in their backstory” is not a defence. Zero tolerance for any sexual content involving minors or minor-presenting characters. Instant permanent ban.
E10.2ERP Must Be Private WARNING
ERP is permitted only in fully private, non-public locations, a locked residence, a private interior, or an instanced property where no other player can see or enter the scene. ERP in any public or semi-public area is prohibited, even if the area appears empty at the time. If you cannot guarantee privacy, do not begin. Repeat or deliberate offences escalate per the standard punishment guidelines.
E10.3Mandatory OOC Consent BAN
All ERP must be consensual out of character. Before anything begins, use /b to confirm every participant is an adult and comfortable. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, for any reason, without explanation, “stop” ends the scene instantly. Continuing after a decline or withdrawal is harassment and will be treated as such.
E10.4No Streaming or Recording BAN
ERP may not be streamed, recorded, clipped, or shared in any form on any platform. Capturing or distributing another player’s ERP without their explicit OOC permission is a serious breach. This protects player privacy and keeps the server clear of third-party platform violations.
E10.5Rape & Sexual Assault Strictly Prohibited PERM BAN
Any form of rape or sexual assault roleplay is completely banned. No exceptions, no “but we both agreed out of character.” It does not exist on this server. Instant permanent ban.
E10.6Prohibited Extreme Content PERM BAN
The following is permanently banned regardless of any claimed consent: any content involving minors, bestiality, necrophilia, and any comparable extreme sexual content. Instant permanent ban, no appeal.
E10.7No Solicitation or Real-World Exchange BAN
ERP is roleplay only. Offering, requesting, or exchanging ERP for real money, for currency tied to real payments, or for any out-of-game benefit is prohibited. Advertising “services” of this kind in any channel, in-game, Discord, or elsewhere, is not allowed.
SECTION 11 Administration & Enforcement
A11.1Character Resets by Senior Management WARNING
Senior Management reserves the right to partially or fully reset your character if you consistently roleplay incorrectly or break character story. Only Senior Management has this authority, no other admin level.
A11.2Admin Instructions Must Be Followed BAN
When an admin gives you an instruction, follow it. If you disagree, comply first, then appeal through Discord. Arguing with admins in-game or being disrespectful to staff results in additional punishment.
ⓘ Info · A11.3, Punishment Guidelines
  • Warning, Minor infractions, first offences for low-severity rules
  • Admin Jail, Disruptive behaviour, ignoring admin instructions
  • Temp Ban (1–14 days), RDM, VDM, powergaming, metagaming, combat logging
  • Permanent Ban, Hacking, repeated metagaming, underage players, extreme content, doxxing, real-life threats

Punishments are guidelines, staff may adjust based on severity, context, and history.

ⓘ Info · A11.4, Appeals Process
If punished unfairly, appeal through Discord. Be honest, lying in an appeal results in permanent denial. Permanent bans can be appealed after 30 days.
⚠ Warning · A11.5, Rules Subject to Change
Rules may be updated at any time. When changed, you’ll be asked to re-read and accept them. “I didn’t know the rules changed” is not an excuse, check this thread regularly, especially after a major patch.
SECTION 12 Real-World Events & Lore Integration
✔ Lore · Real-world events may influence in-game stories
Roleplay Project is set in a living world. Real-world geopolitics — US politics and elections, global conflict, economic shifts, cultural moments — can be reflected in your characters’ backstories, motivations, and the city’s atmosphere. The rules below set the boundaries.
W12.1Real-World Events As Background Lore ALLOWED
Your character can be shaped by real-world events. A US Marine character returning from a real overseas conflict, a stock-trader scarred by a real market crash, an immigrant character whose family fled a real ongoing war — all welcome, provided it’s woven into their story and not used to bully other players OOC.

Good: “My character served in a recent conflict and struggles with PTSD.”
Good: “My character’s family business collapsed in the 2024 downturn.”
Bad: Lecturing another player about your IRL political opinions in /b chat.
W12.2Active & Sensitive Tragedies ADMIN APPROVAL
Tragedies that are still actively unfolding or are within recent memory — mass-casualty incidents, active terror attacks, ongoing humanitarian crises — need management sign-off before being woven into a storyline. We err on the side of taste; if you’re unsure whether something is too recent, ask before you build a plot around it.
W12.3Real People As Characters Or Targets BAN
Do not play as a real living public figure, and do not write real people into your scenes as victims or antagonists. Inspired-by is fine (“a former Senator”); naming or impersonating real individuals is not. This protects both the project and the people involved.
SECTION 13 Major Planned Events & In-Character Escalation
ⓘ Two paths · Spontaneous escalation vs. planned events
In the heat of a scene, your character is allowed to act — take a hostage, rob a counter, run a roadblock — provided it follows the normal combat and crime rules (Sections 05 & 06). The rules below cover the other path: events that are planned, scripted, or large-scale.
M13.1Spontaneous In-Character Escalation ALLOWED
If your character is forced into a situation in the moment — cornered by police, ambushed during a deal, dragged into a fight — you can react in-character without pre-approval. Taking a hostage to negotiate your way out, an opportunistic robbery, fleeing the scene — these are fair as long as the normal RP, combat, and FearRP rules are followed.

This is the spirit: things people would actually do under pressure are part of the world.
M13.2Planned Major Events Require 7 Days’ Notice REQUIRED
Pre-planned operations that affect more than a handful of players — bank heists, jewellery-store jobs, hostage standoffs, prison breaks, large-scale gang wars, organised attacks on city infrastructure, criminal-network reveals — must be submitted to management at least seven (7) days in advance.

The submission needs: a target window (date/time + duration), the crews involved, the desired escalation cap (chase / shootout / mass-cas), and a single point of contact on your side. Submit via the management ticket on the forum or a DM to a Project Lead.
M13.3Management Will Not Decline Without Cause PROMISE
We will never decline a properly-submitted event for taste or favouritism. The only reason we will postpone or reshape an event is if the day you’ve chosen doesn’t have the police/EMS/fire/admin cover to make it a fair, well-RP’d scene. If we have to move it, we’ll work the date with you, not against you.
M13.4Confidentiality — PD, EMS, Fire PERM BAN
When an event is approved, management will ask law-enforcement, medical, and fire leadership to make sure their factions are online and available on the date in question — but management will not tell them what the event is, who is involved, where it will happen, or what to expect. Sworn factions discover the event the same way their characters would: when it starts.

Anyone — criminal or sworn — who leaks event details outside of the approved organising group (including via Discord DMs, voice chat, hint-dropping in /b, or relaying through alts) is metagaming-by-leak and will be permanently banned from the community.
M13.5Approved Doesn’t Mean Immune WARNING
A green-lit event is not a guaranteed win. Your crew can be arrested, hospitalised, or killed. Vehicles can be impounded, money seized, evidence collected. Plan accordingly, the city responds to what you do.
M13.6Death During An Event Is A Character Kill AUTO-CK
Any death during a planned major event (Section 13) OR any death during a spontaneous escalation that reaches Section-13 territory — hostage standoff, bank robbery, prison break, organised shootout, attack on a faction HQ, etc. — is automatically a Character Kill. The character is permanently dead and cannot be played again, by you or anyone else.

What this means in practice:
  • There is no separate CK clause to sign. Choosing to take part in (or escalate into) a Section-13 event is the acceptance.
  • This applies to every participant: criminals, sworn officers, EMS, fire, civilians caught in the firefight.
  • NLR (R3.5) doesn’t soften this — it’s a CK, not a PK.
  • If you survive, you live with the in-character consequences (arrest, hospitalisation, prosecution, witness statements). No restart.

Why: stakes-free heists turn the server into a sandbox. If you’re going to hold a city hostage, the city gets to hold yours back. Plan as though this is the last day your character has, because it might be.

ⓘ Info · Rules Update, Section 1 Adjustment
The minimum age has been raised. The previous requirement was 16+; Roleplay Project is now an 18+ only community. The change is reflected in G1.1 of the main rules.
⚠ Warning · Age Verification
If we suspect a player does not meet the 18+ requirement, the account will be suspended until age can be validated through our identification partner.

ⓘ Info · Rules Update, Section 2 Addition
A rule has been added to Section 2 (Account Conduct) covering inter-community drama. This is now codified as G2.7 in the main rules.

Example: you have an outstanding forum report on another server and continue that drama here. ⓘ Info · Rules Update, Section 10 Adjustments
Following the migration to FiveM (and subject to RAGEMP closure), and after legal review against Rockstar Games’ roleplay-server policies, Section 10 (Mature & Erotic Content) has been updated. The full set of rules now live in the OP under Section 10, the cards below mirror the canonical text.

Two rules have been added to Section 2 (Account Conduct). Please read and acknowledge.
G2.8Account & Character Transparency ADMIN JAIL
Everyone deserves to know who operates each character. Characters must be publicly linked to an account username. This makes reporting easier and provides assurance to players who may not wish to interact with the operator of a given character, preventing avoidable issues.
G2.9Reporting Players WARNING
All reports must be made via /report. If no admins are available, your ticket may automatically be deferred to a UCP report. Reports are not made public. Player-to-player reports and staff reports remain private between the reporter and the reported. Reports are handled on a priority-case basis.

Roleplay Project · Rules Update
Section 12 & 13 added — World Events and Planned Major Events

Two new sections have been added to the Global Server Rules. Read them in full before your next session.

These are clarifications of existing practice rather than punitive changes — we’re making explicit what management already approves and what we don’t. Per A11.5, “I didn’t know the rules changed” is not a defence; check the rules thread after each update.

roleplayproject.net Signed, the Project Team
SECTION 12 Real-World Events & Lore Integration
✔ Real-world events may influence in-game stories
Roleplay Project is a living world. Geopolitics, conflicts, market shifts, cultural moments — you can weave them into your characters’ backstories and the city’s atmosphere. New rules W12.1, W12.2, and W12.3 set the boundaries: real events as backdrop are allowed; active tragedies need admin approval; do not use real living people as characters or targets.
SECTION 13 Major Planned Events
ⓘ Spontaneous escalation vs. planned events — two different paths

If it happens in the heat of a scene — cornered by police, dragged into a fight, opportunistic robbery — you can act in-character without pre-approval (M13.1). Hostage-taking to negotiate your way out of a cornered situation is fine. Normal combat, crime, and FearRP rules still apply.

If it’s planned — bank heist, jewellery job, prison break, hostage standoff, large-scale gang war, attack on city infrastructure — you must submit to management at least seven days in advance (M13.2).

✔ Our promise on planned events — M13.3
We will never decline a properly-submitted event for taste or favouritism. The only reason we will reshape or postpone is if the day you chose doesn’t have the PD / EMS / fire / admin cover to make it a fair, well-RP’d scene. We’ll work the date with you, not against you.
✖ Confidentiality — M13.4 — perm-ban offence
When an event is approved, management will ask sworn-faction leadership (PD, EMS, fire) to make sure their factions are online and available on the date in question — without telling them what the event is, who is involved, or where it will happen. They discover it the same way their characters would: when it starts.

Leaking event details outside the approved organising group — via DM, voice, /b hints, alts — is metagaming-by-leak and results in a permanent ban. This applies to criminals and sworn members equally.

Read the full rules: Global Server Rules — Sections 12 & 13

Submit a planned event: DM a Project Lead on the forums or open the management ticket. Include date/time window, crews involved, escalation cap, and a single point of contact on your side.

Roleplay Project
Roleplay Project · Rules Update
M13.6 added — Auto-CK on death during a major event

Following the introduction of Section 13, we’re making the stakes explicit. Any death during a major planned event — and any death during a spontaneous escalation that reaches Section-13 territory — is an automatic Character Kill.

roleplayproject.net Signed, the Project Team
✖ AUTO-CK · M13.6 · Permanent character death

If your character dies during any planned major event (bank heist, prison break, hostage standoff, organised shootout, attack on a faction HQ, etc.) or any spontaneous escalation that reaches the same scale, that death is a Character Kill. The character is permanently dead and cannot be played again, by you or anyone else.

There is no separate CK clause to sign. Entering or escalating into a Section-13 event is the acceptance.

Who this applies to
  • Everyone in the event — criminals, sworn officers, EMS, fire, civilians caught in the firefight.
  • NLR (R3.5) does not soften this. It is a CK, not a PK.
  • Survivors live with the in-character consequences — arrest, hospitalisation, prosecution, witness statements. No restart.
ⓘ Why this rule exists
Stakes-free heists turn the server into a sandbox. If you’re going to hold a city hostage, the city gets to hold yours back. Plan as though this is the last day your character has, because it might be.
